Begin Your Story at the Edge of the Empire

Humanity left Earth, spread out further than it can govern, and found out it was never alone.

You are somebody living in that. A soldier, an agent, an officer, a hacker, a medic, a psion, or something considerably stranger.

The United Planets Colonial Administration runs the official expansion. MilSpecOps and the Space Infantry Corps handle what the Administration cannot admit to. Separatist Outsiders want no part of any of it, corporations own more than they should, and first contact went badly enough that nobody is certain of anything any more.

Roleplaying and Tactical, in One Book

An opposed ten-sided system with attribute and skill rolls handles the talking. An action point structure handles the shooting, with initiative, line of sight, cover, range and facing, plus reactive actions like Guard, Dodge, Intercept and Counterattack. Zero and low gravity get their own rules, and both physical and mental damage carry consequences that take time to heal.

Build the Character You Want

Multiple races, human and otherwise. Factions, from the Colonial Navy to the Outsiders. Classes including Space Infantry, Agent, Officer, Medic, Hacker, Tech, Sentinel, Gene Weaver and Mercenary. Then cybernetics, genetic modification and psionics on top, and Character Development Points to keep growing across a campaign.

Hacking That Affects the Room

Public networks and secure tech nets, cyber battles, encryption, rootkits and denial of service, with results that land in the physical world rather than staying on a screen.

Build a Ship While You Are at It

Shuttles, cargo haulers, yachts and fighters, with generators from solar to zero point, shields, drives from chemical to warp, sensors, ship AI, and weapons up to particle beam cannons.

A Setting Ready to Run

The Sol system in detail, out through Alpha Centauri, Barnard's Star, Wolf 359, Tau Ceti and Epsilon Eridani, with the politics and corporate history that explain why anybody is fighting over any of it. Game Masters get adventure planning, encounter design, security and facility layouts, and guidance on handling a table.

What Comes With It

The purchase also includes bonus material from the Falling Stars universe, all of it compatible with Empire's Edge. A campaign book of ready adventures and story arcs, an antagonists booklet with stat blocks and tactics for Ferals, automated defences, private military forces and others, and the complete printable map sets for running tactical encounters at the table.

What You Need

This book, something to write with, a few friends, and dice if you want them. Miniatures and maps are supported but not required.

Empire's Edge is a complete standalone roleplaying and tactical game system, delivered as a PDF. It is not a supplement to anything and nothing else is required to play it.

Evelyn L. ★★★★★

The card quality is solid and the tactical combat system actually flows smoothly once you get past the initial setup. I’ve already run two sessions with my group and the officer roles feel distinct and useful.

Ellie ★★★★★

The character creation has so many options that I felt like I was building a real person in this universe, which really pulled me in. I've already run three sessions with friends and the tactical combat keeps everyone on edge.

Aurora ★★★★☆

The class and species combos give you a ton of ways to build a character, and the tactical combat moves fast once everyone knows the rules. Only gripe is the core book could use a better index, but the setting itself kept our group hooked for a full campaign.
